Yolanda Grant-Thompson / Coaching

Coaching
Yolanda has been a singing teacher and vocal coach for many years. She enjoys working in all genres of music including classical, jazz, musical theatre, pop, and reggae to name a few. She regularly works with singers of all abilities, from beginner to professional, from ABRSM examinations to professional studio recordings. As a peripatetic singing teacher, Yolanda works with primary and secondary school pupils, preparing singers for concerts, school productions, GCSE and A' Level music examinations.

Her work as a choral conductor began in Manchester, with a female a capella singing group called One Voice. This involved working with singers of mixed musical abilities. Concerts included outdoor street festivals, special church services and the distinction of being invited to sing with The Chieftains at the Bridgewater Hall in Manchester and the NEC in Birmingham.

Yolanda is regularly invited to direct choirs and has co-ordinated SATB, SSA & SAT choirs for a number of churches and schools.

"Some outstanding teaching was seen in individual vocal lessons. Students made outstanding progress in every respect because their performance was improved through expert modelling, supportive accompaniment that developed their listening as well as vocal performance skills and, above all, insistence on the highest standards."
